A workshop investigating corporeality from internal impulse to external expression. Deeply influenced by live, original music. Exploring physical states and movement through a hybrid of traditional, contemporary and alternative forms. Deepening awareness and understanding of the body by working with energy, touch, somatic modalities, improvisational forms, group scores, technical experiments and three-dimensional choreography. Activating embodied intelligence in motion as means of perception, intuition and agency. CORPOREALITY is an intimate and animated arena for physical and creative exploration that encourages sensate virtuosity, kinetic efficiency, interactive intelligence, serious fun and hardcore dancing.

​Transit Dances: Night Trolley

​ALTERNATIVA performs in Epifany Dance Theater's 15th Annual Trolley Dances.

A two-day, free (with Muni fare) public performance curated by Epiphany Dance Theater artistic director Kim Epifano, pairs artists and ensembles with specific sites along San Francisco’s MUNI route, where they are invited to create an 8- to 15-minute piece in response to the physical environment, architecture and history of the area.

Improvisation + Training Module is for dancers, improvisers, movement artists, and performers who are interested in a physical discourse engaging methods of contemporary dance training, somatic investigation and improvisational forms. The module is facilitated by Kathleen Hermesdorf, with weekly and weekend sessions by international guest artists, including Peter Pleyer, Stephanie Maher, Scott Wells, Jen Polins, and interactions with the Freedom/Moves Symposium with Polins, Thomas DeFrantz,  Jaamil Kosoko, and the Freedom to Move Caucus and Color Block with Joy Mariama Smith plus many more! Deepening awareness and understanding of your physical materials and systems by investigating states of embodiment and the act of motion through a hybrid of traditional, contemporary and alternative forms. Exploring articulation and agency, form and function, materiality and imagination. Tracking impulses, testing and trusting instincts. Experimenting with the many bodies we inhabit - anatomical, elemental, emotional, artistic, animal, magical, mundane and more. Encouraging sensate virtuosity, interactive intelligence, personal presence and performative practice. Working with energy cultivation, touch and manipulation, technical modalities, somatic and contact improvisation, choreography, scores and creative processes.

WILD West Cork Contemporary Dance Festival 2018

A week of dance, technique, improvisation, contact improv, Croí Glan LAB research, performance and community events at An Sanctoir, a 30-acre nature reserve with a beautiful hexagonal dance studio in West Cork, Ireland. Offering a high level of creativity, physical challenge, immersivity and interactivity. Experiencing the expansion of the surrounding environment, bodies in wild natural surroundings, drawing from collective of dance artists who stretch the limits of embodied research, from the local to the global, bringing together aesthetics from San Francisco to Berlin, Ireland, West Cork and beyond…..
